Our multi-disciplined staff has served state and local governments as well as industrial and commercial clients with a particular expertise within the wood products industry. Mid-South is an Arkansas based corporation with offices in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Cary, North Carolina, and Orono, Maine.

Marc Stewart

|  President

Marc has been with Mid-South for over 20 years, most recently holding the positions of Vice President-Administration and Chief Financial Officer. Marc received his BSME from Louisiana Tech University and he earned an MBA from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Before joining Mid-South, Marc held engineering and product management positions with a manufacturer of  water circulation/filtration equipment and was a design engineer in the aerospace industry.

Chris Brown, PE

| Vice President

Strategic planning for new plant facilities and existing mill operations in the building products industry. Over 23 years of experience in project engineering and management in the building products industry.

Scott Stamey, PE

| Vice President

Over 17 years of experience working with projects in the building products and biomass energy industries. Scott is a licensed Professional Engineer with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from NC State University, and a Masters in Forest Biomaterials from NCSU.

| Senior Project Consultant

Project management experience in Pulp and Paper, Wood Products and Engineered Wood industry sectors. Present duties include corporate management and business development. Active in numerous industry trade organizations and industry support groups.

Dylan DeMacy

Over 15 years of experience that covers various industries and markets. Experience in both Greenfield & Brownfield projects, with a heavy concentration in Wood Pellets and OSB facilities.

Walter Goodine

Over 20 years industrial experience in pulp and paper, energy, sawmills, and molded fiber. Walter has held leadership positions in operations, maintenance, reliability, engineering and project management.

Richard Melan, PEng

|  Director of Operations, Richmond, B.C.

Richard began his career with the Stolberg Group shortly after graduating from the University of British Columbia over 30 years ago. He brings decades of consulting experience in the wood/building products industry in the design of sawmills, pulp mill wood rooms and wood pellet plants. He has been involved in every facet of the mechanical design process from plant layout, equipment design, specification, tendering, lists and project management.

Rod Gronlund

|  Director of Engineering, Richmond, B.C.

Rod has been with the Stolberg Group for 51 years, starting with Stolberg Construction in 1968. Rod worked up through the ranks to project superintendent in charge of all construction disciplines on projects up to 250 workers. 1975, he became Manager of our Prince George office managing all facets of construction management. Stolberg Engineering was formed in 1980, and from 1982 until 1994 Stolberg preformed many projects on a “Design-Build” platform which Rod became heavily involved in, and advanced to V.P. of Project Planning and Development. From 1984 to present Rod has been involved in 113 major projects, plus numerous smaller forest related projects including sawmills, planermills, wood rooms, plywood plants and pellet plants.

Tyler Avery, PE

| Director of Operations, Roger, AR.

Tyler has experience on over 200 projects in 9 years with Mid-South serving as project engineer, project manager, and Engineer of Record. A licensed Professional Engineer in 9 states, Tyler’s expertise lies in structural design of industrial projects. Tyler is active in multiple technical and professional societies and is currently the State Director for the Arkansas Society of Professional Engineers.



Mid-South Engineering Company was founded in 1969 by four engineers with a common vision – to be a complete engineering service provider focused on total dedication to the client. The path to their goal was simple: work with good clients, select and train good employees, delegate authority, and allow room for the proper execution of the job.
