Alabama LVL & I-Joist Plant
The Thorsby plant uses the LVL from its continuous press to rip up to 80 foot long material which it then uses as the flanges for wooden I-Joists. OSB panels are ripped and fed into the I-Joists assembly system to complete the process. The joists are finally dried in a heated and controlled environment curing room before a “nester-stacker” assembles the packaged I-Joists for shipment. This plant produces I-Joists that can span up to the full 80 feet length to make large open rooms in buildings possible. Joist of 12-inchs in depth and smaller have the same exact sizes as standard lumber to allow for house builders to interchange or mix lighter weight wooden I-Beams with dimension lumber to improve the housing construction process with robust materials at less cost to the home owner.
